Trust Me: Another Sale

I just got the most incredible news.

I sold another story. I am simply stunned.

On March 20th 2010, I got my first contract for a story.

Today, one year and less than a month later, I have sold my eleventh.

I am simply stunned.

The name of this story is “Trust Me.” It is about a widower named Neil who agrees to go to a Dude ranch vacation with his best friend, the sister of his dead wife. He is anything but an outdoorsy kind of guy and he is afraid of horses. But he goes. There he meets Cody, a wrangler, a man young enough he could almost be Neil’s son and the attraction is immediate. But before anything can happen, Neil must deal with the fact that he has been denying his homosexuality all his life. Can he?

Of course! LOL! I think this story is the best I’ve written to date, and the story that has prepared me to write my first novel (a piece I am about to begin for Dreamspinner Press).

One of the things I am SO excited about is “Trust Me” sold to Amber Quill, a very presigious publisher and one that is HARD to get your foot in the door. The only have open submissions to new writers (new for them) a couple of times a year. The email they sent me on receiving the story said I would hear back in 6-8 weeks. I sold it in 11 days! I sold it to Amber Quill!

Oh, God! I am SO happy!

I can’t wait to tell you more.

Also, I am doing final edits for “How Could Love Be Wrong,” the story I sold a few weeks back that will be in Dreamspinner’s Daily Dose for June.

This is a very exciting time for me. Thank you so much to all of those of you who are supporting me. And a very very special thanks to clmiles and essayel, the true friends and excellent betas who moved heaven and earth to edit “Trust Me” (39k words) so I could have it done in time for the deadline! And of course, special thanks also to valarltd who pointed out the open submission and counseled me and answered so many questions.

Remember folks, pursue your dreams. Leap and the net will appear!

  1. YAY!!! This is such AWESOME news! I know how much being accepted by this publisher means to you *dances with you*. I am so very excited and happy for you! And I agree with you, I believe this story is one of your best, and people are going to love it. I can’t recommend it enough!

    *sends you big hugs*

  2. Congratulations BG – that’s great news! AA do sound like a great publisher to be in with – I missed the deadline for this spring’s submission call, but I’m hoping to be inspired for the next one 🙂

    • (((HUGS))) to you! Thanks for the bouncing and thanks for pointing the way. As for the Sex Bytes story, I have a great idea, but I am in the middle of overtime and there is NO way I can write and edit it in the few days I will have free. Plus next week is my birthday and that weekend we will be going to Raymond’s home town to see his family. So instead, I have a great idea for an “Oh, Canada!” story and am trying to come up with something for the other one. It is just so vague though… Thank you again my friend.

  3. Congratulations, that´s wonderful, more than just wonderful!!! I´m so happy for your and I can´t wait to hear when your first novel will get published! I make happy snoppy dances for you, you really deserve all the success… that many storys sold in just one year! WOW!
    Congratulations! *hugs*

  4. Thank you! *beams*
My story is for the Postcards from Paradise line – is yours for that one? I seem to remember there was a cowboy call as well, which as a Brit, I didn’t even consider submitting for! But it sounds like your story would have been perfect for either. 🙂

Sex, Lies and Edelweiss is set (natch) in Austria, where I’ve spent many happy holidays – here’s the draft blurb:

All Simon thinks he wants is a little holiday fling to spice up his apple strudel. Unfortunately he’s not too good at keeping things casual. Matt, on the other hand, has learned the hard way the dangers of getting in too deep. When secrets and lies from Simon’s past come to the fore, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether this fledgling romance will hit the peaks—or sink without trace in the cool Alpine waters.

It features secrets, strudel… and sex with fish! 😉

      • This is just the blurb I drafted for submission. It’ll be interesting to see if AQ change it a lot or a little! 🙂

I got the acceptance March 30th, and I’ve been given a release date of June 19th, but I haven’t had anything re covers and edits yet.
