A Week of Giving Thanks: Day Four

Today is Thanksgiving and of course, along with everything else I have in abundance, I have food! Food, food, food. An over abundance of food. In a world where some 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. That’s about one in nine people on earth. And do you know what I am having…?

I am having three Thanksgivings this year. I had one last Friday with my Mom and daughter and husband. We had the traditional works: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, a wonderful salad, plus broccoli with cheese and all kinds of wonderful cookies and more.

Today, on Thanksgiving, R and I are having a huge chicken that has been cooking away slowly in the crockpot for hours, with baby carrots. There is also green beans and asparagus and stuffing. I mean wow! And it’s all so…every day.

This weekend, Sunday probably, we are having a Thanksgiving with his mother. That, we are planning, will feature Cornish hens.

Meanwhile, we have food every day. We never worry about not having enough. And we, like a lot of people, take it for granted.

Today while I eat with my husband, I will remember with every bite to have gratitude for what I have. I’m lucky. And I’m blessed!

Happy Thanksgiving!
And Namasté,
BG “Ben” Thomas
