Until recently, Adam Brookhart has led what he considers a relatively uneventful life. His biggest problem is that he can’t let his guard down and allow himself to get close to anyone, emotionally or physically—until he meets Shane Farmer.

Shane lives in a small town many miles from Adam and is his complete opposite. In fact, he’s just about the last person Adam can imagine himself in a relationship with. But Adam is drawn to the man, and neither distance nor their differences can keep him away.

Late one night, while driving home from Shane’s house, something very strange happens. Adam loses two hours of time and has no idea how or why. But as he digs for clues, the answers he finds are totally crazy… and the man he is falling in love with might be crazy as well.

And so this is it! The third and final story I did for the anthology, Gothika, a series I was very proud to be a part of. A wonderful series idea, with wonderful authors, including the talented Eli Easton, Kim Fielding, Sue Brown, Jamie Fessenden, and later, F.E. Feeley, Jr.

This particular novella was first seen in the volume, Contact. I’m excited that when they were trying to pick a name for this one, I was the one that came of with the title they like best. A volume described as:

Since ancient times, humankind has looked into the night sky and wondered: Are we alone? Are there other civilizations beyond the stars? Will we ever encounter these beings? Who are they, what are they like, and what might they want with us?

These questions are about to be answered, but those who discover the truth might wish they had never asked. On the other hand, some might find salvation in visitors from other planets. For while some aliens are hostile, others are benevolent. Some have little in common with humans, but for others, the need for love and acceptance is universal. Lives will intersect and otherworldly passions will ignite as four acclaimed authors of gay romance explore first contact—and where it can lead.

Sadly the five Gothika‘s are no longer available. But I was more happy than words can say when I was able to make my stories available on their own. Uninvited was released two months ago, Unfinished Business last month, and now this last, Unusual Attention, today. All with gorgeous covers by the mindbogglingly talented Paul Richmond. This one, both story and cover, might be my personal favorite of the three. I love the main guys, l love the secondary characters, l love the tertiary characters, l love the twist. The only thing is, l did not get to polish it at all and there were things l wish l had done, and now that the Gothika books are out of print, I had my shot!

So I hope that you will consider seeking these stories out, including this new Unusual Attention of course! You can find them at….

Love and Kisses Everyone!
(because even if I tell a spooky story, love is at it’s heart!)

Mike Ellsworth was alive and well one minute, and dead the next. Only he’s not really dead—he’s a ghost. One with lots of unfinished business.

He’s never told his wife that he has come to accept that he’s gay. He’s never told her that he has a secret lover. He’s never been able to tell his lover that he is in love with him, never actually uttered those sacred important words…“I love you.” And now there’s nothing Mike can do about it.

And that’s only the beginning! He soon finds out he can help other ghosts leave the spirit world and step into the light. So what’s keeping him stuck on earth? If only there were a way he could make up for all he’s done wrong, and finally do what’s truly right. Take care of all that unfinished business.

And maybe, just maybe, there is.

I am very happy to reveal my new release of an “older” story that I am extremely proud of called Unfinished Business. This novella was originally a part of a wonderful anthology series called Gothika. The volume this story appeared in was called Spirits: “Seeing dead people. Haunting and being haunted. Ghosts and those trying to deal with them add a supernatural flair to these four tales of romance.” The Gothika anthology series featured m/m romance stories with gothic/horror themes. Each volume in the anthology focused on one “creature” or theme and included four novellas by m/m romance authors. And while these themes had been already done in the m/m genre (such as werewolves) the gothic/spooky tone set the amazing series apart. Misty streets, the back alleys of New Orleans, silent swamps, New England graveyards, foreboding old manor houses, insane asylums….the texture of each story was as much a character as the romantic heroes.

The authors included the wonderfully talented Eli Easton, Kim Fielding, Sue Brown, Jamie Fessenden, and later, F.E. Feeley, Jr. And I got to be a part of all that!

Sadly those volumes are no longer available. But I was thrilled when I was able to make my story available! Uninvited was re-released last month (click HERE to see more), Unfinished Business today, and Unusual Attention will be released next month—each with gorgeous covers by the mindbogglingly talented Paul Richmond.

What’s more I got to “re-edit” these three stories, because I’m a better writer today than I was five years ago, and tweak them a bit, add a little more refinement, and generally make them better!

So I hope that you will consider seeking these stories out, including this new Unfinished Business of course! You can find them at….

When a hot tip leads Kansas City reporter Taylor Dunton to a series of grisly murders, his investigation points to Myles Parry and his vodou shop. Myles wants nothing more than to practice his religion in peace, and he hopes Taylor can help him show the community they have nothing to fear. The problem is all the clues point to Myles as the suspect and only Taylor can help him prove his innocence. However, this case has also caught the attention of the vodou spirits of the Lwa… and they’ve taken an interest in Taylor as well.

Words cannot say how happy about this new release!! You see all of my stories tie into each other one way or another.

For instance the police officers, Detectives Daphne Brookhart and Cain Townsend, who appear in Uninvited, first showed up in my novels All Alone in a Sea of Romance and Hound Dog & Bean!  But here is the problem….

Recently a series of wonderful anthologies called Gothika went out of print, three of which included novellas of mine. I was blown away when I was asked to participate, because I would join such wonderful authors as Eli Easton, Kim Fielding, Sue Brown, Jamie Fessenden, and later, F.E. Feeley, Jr., for this amazing project. And I was just as crushed as when the volumes went out-of-print.

The first one, Uninvited, is now in print as a standalone, and now that I have several years of writing experience, I was able to go back and clean them up and add some stuff to make the stories even better. And check out the new cover by the indomitable Paul Richmond! I’m so excited by what he did!

The first story is available right now (with the other two coming out soon)! I hope you will check it out!

SAVING HANNAH: A New Book by JP Barnaby

My dear, wonderful friend Trish Gillham aka JP Barnaby has a new book out–today! It’s been over two and a half years since she’s published a book and I am dancing excited. Not only is Trish a lovely person, but a terrific writer as well. The first of her “Little Boy Lost” series was like the second or third MM novel I ever read! And I loved it.

Here is the cover blurb for her new novel, Saving Hannah:

Thomas Aberthol’s luck has run out. His daughter, Hannah, needs a miracle he can’t deliver. A hacker with a felony record, Thomas has little chance of finding work that will provide the care she needs. Out of money, out of options, and out of hope, he throws himself on the mercy of someone he never thought to see again. Continue reading

September Dreamspun Desires from Dreamspinner Press

Wow! Look! I get to be paired with B.A. Tortuga this month from Dreamspun Desires!

I mean, wow! What an honor. Have you read B.A? Of course you have. And if you haven’t you need to. Awesome writer. And one of the nicest people! Gosh, I hope I see her next week when I go to the big Dreamspinner Press Author’s Workshop.

Of course I am pretty proud of my new novel as well. I put heart and soul and a TON of research into this one. Who doesn’t like a story about and undercover prince?

Anyway… Here are the blurbs.

Working on a full house.

Once upon a time, Trey Williamson and Ap McIntosh had quite the whirlwind romance—but that was before family tragedy left them the guardians of five kids. Their lives have changed quite a bit over the last six years, but Ap is still on the rodeo circuit, doing what he does best in an attempt to feed all those extra mouths.

That leaves Trey back on the ranch, isolated and overworked as the kids’ sole caregiver. Something has to give, and when Ap comes home, they’re reminded how hot they burned once upon a time. But is it a love that can withstand wrangling over time, money, and the future? They have to decide what kind of family they want to be… and whether what they share can stand the test of time.

A Small-Town Dreams Story

Prince Charming is the man next door.

Small-town business owner Jason Brewster has big dreams: world travel, adventure, and most of all, a passionate romance worthy of a fairy tale. But he doesn’t believe fantasies can come true….

Until Adam moves in next door.

He’s handsome, cultured, European, and best of all, interested in Jason. It’s like something out of the stories Jason loves.

But Adam—whose real name is Amadeo Montefalcone—has a secret. He’s royalty, prince of the small country of Monterosia. Only he doesn’t want to rule, and especially doesn’t want the loveless marriage waiting for him at home. So he ran away in search of true love. With a man. And with Jason, he finds it.

But Adam can’t run forever. The truth will come out. If Jason can forgive Adam’s deception, they might find their happily ever after.

A Week of Giving Thanks: Day Five

I am so grateful that my new book has come out—or at least to subscribers. And you know what? It never gets old. Holding that book in my hands. It never gets old. I don’t know why, but it doesn’t. Its exhilarating. I’ve read books all my life and looked with awe at the author’s names there on the covers. And now that book arrives in the mail and there is my name, clear and bold and my heart leaps into my throat and sometimes I have to choke back tears of joy.

Getting His Man is especially exciting and I am not sure why. Maybe because it looks like the books I bought growing up. Dreamspinner Press paperbacks are oversized, what we called trade paperbacks when I worked at Walden Books all those years, and many years ago. I always bought what my parent’s generation called “pocket books” and my generation called paperbacks. I bought a lot of series too, from the Dark Shadows books to Star Trek books and so many more. This book looks like the books I always bought (hard covers were a special gift). And its been almost an hour since I got it and my heart is still humpin’ and a bumpin’.

Getting His Man was fun to write too. So many of my books are filled with angst (and a different kind of dark shadows) even though the light comes shining through and there is the Happily Ever After readers want (and so do I). But his series, the Dreamspun Desires series, are contemporaries and are good clean fun, even though they can have some exciting moments and even a few on-the-edge-of-your seat ones as well. It was a joy to write and I even got to help design the cover and the badge for the series (I am seeing two more).

I got my copy in the mail today, along with Elizabeth Nobel’s High Test. What an honor to be paired with her. Wonderful lady and a wonderful writer as well.

Anyway, even though I have already been thankful this Thanksgiving week to be a writer, I have to say it. Today I am grateful and thankful to not only be a part of Dreamspinner Press and the Dreamspun Desires line, but to have it in my hands. It is heck’a exciting. And a dream come true.
