Two Awesome Reviews of Two Of My Audio Books!

So I am home from work sick today and was feeling mopey and yucky and then I get notifications for two of my audio books. And both of them are fantastic! What a great turn of events. They sure put a smile on my face! Just check these out….

Smoocher's Voice

The first review is for the audio of “Bianca’s Plan.” It was done by Stacia Aurore Rose at Smoocher’s Voice. Thank you, Stacia! You can find the original review by clicking Right Here or check out Smoocher’s Voice review blog by clicking Right Here.

Blurb:

Bianca worries that her daddy, Gavin, is lonely and decides he needs a boyfriend for Christmas. So she enlists her father’s best friend, the straight and unattached Curtis. Gavin has a Christmas wish, too, and Curtis setting him up on disastrous dates isn’t part of it! Meanwhile, Curtis finds life becoming complicated as he tries to please Bianca, make Gavin happy, and fend off his own unexpected mixed feelings. Will anyone’s wish come true?

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2012 Advent Calendar package “Evergreen”.

Review:

Paul Morey is one of my favorite narrators. His deep rich voice makes the book a pleasant listen. He does very well with the different voices and styles. Paul reads clearly and at a comfortable pace.

Now on to the story of “Bianca’s Plan.” It was a sweet little story. Bianca is a ten year old girl whose plan was to get her daddy a boyfriend for Christmas. She had asked Santa for help but Santa cannot grant wishes that deal with matters of the heart. I’m not sure what I think about that part. It’s part of the story of why she had to do it herself, but my question is why does a ten year old still believe in Santa? On the other hand I still believe in the magic of Christmas. Anyway, Bianca’s character is written very well. She’d make a great Yenta which is a Jewish matchmaker. The girl is sneaky though, she has something up her sleeve and in the end no one knows what hit them while she looks smug.

Bianca cons her daddy’s best friend, Curtis into helping her. Curtis loves that little girl as she was his own so he really couldn’t tell her no. He half-heartedly helps Bianca with what he thinks is her plan. Curtis knows it will lead to disaster or reveal something he himself doesn’t even know or want to acknowledge. I loved Curtis’ character, between trying to do the right thing for his best friend and Bianca and himself, half the time he doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going.

The heart of the story is Gavin, it is he who needs the boyfriend according to his daughter. Gavin doesn’t want to be set up on blind dates but when situations present themselves he is given a little push. Thinking he might as well, since the one Gavin does want, is straight. He has to try and get over him at some point. “The course of true love never did run smooth.”

Overall this is a terrific listen. Paul Morey did a fantastic job telling the sweet story that B.g. Thomas so wonderfully wrote.

The Novel Approach

The second review was for “Grumble Monkey and the Department Store Elf” by Kim over at The Novel Approach. You can find the original review by clicking Right Here or check out The Novel Approach review blog by clicking Right Here.

Blurb:

Kit Jefferies, a part-time department store Christmas elf, is an artist who loves life and his family. Unfortunately, his car dies at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere as he is heading home for Christmas. Enter Nick St. George.

Nick is a very unhappy man—he’s achieved his professional goals only to find the rest of his life bleak and empty. Deciding there was only one way to make everything right, he is on his way to San Francisco on a dark mission, and even the horrible sleet storm that blocked his path won’t deter him. That’s when he found Kit.

At first, Nick is pretty sure rescuing Kit was a big mistake. Kit’s personality is just too, well, effervescent. But as the miles go by, Kit begins to bring light to his dark heart. It might even be bright enough to illuminate a Christmas miracle.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2013 Advent Calendar package “Heartwarming”.

Review:

While driving to his destination through a sleet storm, Nick St. George is about to come to a crossroad in his life, Kit Jefferies. Kit is everything Nick isn’t, they’re complete opposites, but the good news is Kit’s enthusiasm for life is rubbing off on Nick—whether he likes it or not.

For me, there are way too many people who are contemplating what Nick is considering a permanent solution to a temporary problem during the holiday season, or any other time of his life. It does get better, though, if one is willing to give it a chance.

I fell in love with this story about a year ago when I first read it, so naturally, being an audible lover, I just had to have it in my collection. Donald Tursman did a great job narrating Grumble Monkey and the Department Store Elf, and I loved how he brought the story to life. It’s cute, funny, and well worth the time to give it a try. This book earns a 5 Star rating, as either a read or listen!

I Am Proud to Announce the Release of “Christmas Cole” on Audiobook

I am so pleased to announce that “Christmas Cole” is now available on Audiobook. I am so honored by this. Dreamspinner Press chose to release three of my Christmas stories this year. Three! That is amazing.

I am so proud of this story. It deals with issues that in a way I’ve dealt with all my life, and was not easy to write. I put myself very much into this story. You’ll have to read or listen to understand because you won’t know what it is in the description below.

It’s the right price my friends and would make an excellent Christmas present!

Love and Light to you during this Holiday season that we are entering. Whatever your beliefs.

Namaste,
Ben

CHRISTMAS COLE

Javier Torres was a sweet, plump, and very unpopular child. But over the years, he turned himself into a gorgeous gym god. The problem is he’s also become an egotistical snob. But one day his arrogance pisses off the wrong little old lady, and he wakes up to find that, like the Prince in Beauty and the Beast, he’s been transformed into something from his personal nightmares. Javier has nowhere to go but back home, where to his surprise, he is greeted with open arms, not just by the family he remembers, but by his new brother-in-law, Cole. Cole suspects there might be a pretty heart to go with the pretty face locked inside that new body, but has Javier learned enough to earn Cole—instead of coal—for Christmas?

Monday’s Coffee Guy

Hello, on this glorious Monday morning and I hope every one is well and happy. It’s another week ahead of us and that means unlimited possibilities! I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

To misquote Harvey Fierstein from “Torch Song Trilogy”: “For those of youse what ain’t yet guessed,” I love coffee.

Now it has to be GOOD coffee. None of this Folgers or Maxwell House crap. And I am not a big fan of Starbuck’s unless it’s a frozen concoction or something like that, and then we’re not really talking about coffee.

And for those of youse who don’t like coffee, let me say that I didn’t like it. At all. Not one bit. But then I was drinking (the few times I drank it) coffee made by companies like Folgers or Maxwell House.

I work this job where I have 12-hour shifts and I have to get up pretty early in the morning, so I started drinking coffee that way. Sometimes I would have to plug my nose and chug it down. But then a Live Journal friend (remember LJ???) taught me about GOOD coffee.

She told me to go to my local big grocery store and look for the section that has those canisters full of coffee beans and you pull down the little lever and the beans go down into a little bag. And then you run the beans through their grinder. She told me to pick a brand, if possible, that was made by a local roaster. So I tried it. I even found some beans that had been roasted only a couple days before and….

OMG! Vive la différence! It was as different as the black pepper you get in a shaker and fresh ground (that second) peppercorns. I was stunned! I couldn’t believe the depths and levels of flavors! It was downright shocking!

oddly

Like this morning? It’s something called “El Eden Typica” and it comes from the growing region of Guerrero in Mexico. The package says it has “strawberry tones, a mead-like effervescence and hints of banana and chocolate. Sound like bullshit? Well guess what? It’s twue! It’s twue! And it is AMAZING! The first “flavor” rolls out over your tongue and then the second hits and you swallow and there is the shimmering after-taste and OMG!

And my local local local roaster has actually taught me to have good coffee without cream or sugar! I would never ever have believed it a few years ago. That place is called Oddly Correct by the way and I highly recommend it.

I talk a LOT about coffee in my book Hound Dog & Bean,” which just came out in an audiobook format by the way! I am extremely proud of this audiobook. It is read by the amazing, openly gay actor Charlie David. He did a wonderful job. I like it even better than his work on “The Boy Who Came In From the Cold.”

Check it out! LOL! I hope you will! Click right here if youse wanna!!

Oh! And check out Oddly Correct’s website too (RIGHT HERE). You’ll be glad you did!

Meanwhile I will be posting hot pictures of hot men drinking coffee a lot from now on. Look for them! And look for my reviews on coffees now and again as well!

Peace my friends,
And remember, leap and the net will appear!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day

I hope your day is wonderful and full of love no matter your romantic situation. You don’t have to have a lover to have a life that is radiating with love. Maybe it is your friends, your family, or even better ~ your family of choice.

I am excited today to announce that the audio book of Never Say Never has been released. Imagine how exciting it is for me to hear the words I wrote read to me out loud, and in a nice (sexy) man’s voice. It was amazing! Almost as if it were a movie or radio play. You can even hear a small part of by clicking right here. Look for the little bar you can click on to hear it!

This was the ebook that was released last year, but now in audio format and only $7.99! I was so surprised that the book is so inexpensive. A TON went into the production. Silver Publishing as been working on it for months.

The anthology only has four stories, but they are longer, and I think some of the best I’ve read in a long time. The authors are Shae Connor, RJ Scott, Xavier Axelson and of course, me! Here is a blurb for my story…

A Secret Valentine by BG Thomas- Knowing that only by being open about who he is will he find happiness, Steve Manchester gets divorced and comes out as a gay man. But happiness isn’t fast coming. All Steve finds are cheaters and liars and men who want anonymous sex. Then he meets Bill Cameron, a man who is everything that he wants. But Bill only wants to be friends. Steve tries everything he can think of to make “just friends” work, but every time he sees Bill, his heartaches with longing. Just when Steve realizes he can’t take it anymore and decides to move to San Francisco to get away from his hopeless situation, Bill invites him to a Valentine’s Day Ball.

I hope you will check it out. This is so exciting for me. Imagine! An audio book with one of my stories! It is too good to be true. Look for it right here!

In the meantime, Happy Valentine’s Day once more. Love love love! It makes the world go around!

Wonderful News About Two of My Stories!

First, I was very excited to find out that I was one of Amber Allure’s bestsellers for July!

1. Clay’s Challenge – Cassandra Gold (Gay / Contemporary)
2. Lucky – K. M. Mahoney (Gay / Shapeshifter)
3. The Truth About Al – M. L. Rhodes (Gay / Contemporary)
4. Under My Bed – T. A. Chase (Gay / Paranormal)
5. Trust Me – B. G. Thomas (Gay / Contemp. / Western)
6. Cemeteries – Lynn Lorenz (Gay / Paranormal)
7. Lost Between – Shawn Lane (Gay / Paranormal)
8. Hellish Twist In Tinseltown – Lee Avalone (Gay / Paranormal)
9. Echoes – Rick R. Reed (Gay / Paranormal)
10. For One Night Only – Anne Brooke (Gay / Contemp. / BDSM)

Considering that my book came out halfway through the month, that says something, don’t you think? So happy!

AND ML Rhodes, only one of the best and finest M/M romance writers, gave it five stars and said, “I love this book!” WOW!

This is what it must feel like if an author of a “straight” romance got such kinds words from Kathleen Woodiwiss or Diana Gabaldon!

SECOND! Silver Publishing is putting out an audio book of “Never Say Never,” the anthology with my story “A Secret Valentine!” I was SO amazing listening to the first version (they send it to you to see if any mistakes were made) of the story, hearing that strong masculine voice read my words. I got chills. The good kind!

I will be sure to let you know when it is released.

So life is good! I am working hard to finish my Christmas story this week, and then will get busy on one of two (or both) other stories right away.

My daughter is staying a few days with me. It was her birthday the other day and we are still celebrating. It has included a nice dinner, my husband grilling huge chicken breasts for another meal, two movies (Captain America; the First Avenger and Rise of the Planet of the Apes – both were surprisingly good and I recommend them highly!) and finally we are going to go have Pad Thai today at Thai Place. It is the best I’ve ever had and I’ve tried it at quite a few places.

Jayli and I have had quite a lot of fun. Like I’ve said before, I see her just enough to miss her when she’s not here! LOL!

So that’s it for now! Until next time,
Namasté,
B.G. Thomas
