It is Saturday Morning in New York City!

It is Saturday morning in New York City and what could possibly be better than that?

Who knows what today will bring?

Last night was so much fun although it was $$$$$. Thank goodness for business expenses! The drag queens were fun and exceptional, funny, the food was amazing – I had the Chicken Parmesan, so good!

It’s the transportation that is the killer!

Send me positive vibes I’ll get to see the Village today!

I need to wake up! Girl! I was in Elizabeth’s (pub of DSP) until about 2AM! Now it is after nine and need to start my day.

Love and Namaste,

Everything is Amazing! I’m in New York City!!

So far my trip has been utterly amazing!

Left early yesterday morning and got in before noon. The flyover Manhattan was breathtaking!

Got to the hotel, immediately starting meeting the whole Dreamspinner Press staff and it was all I could do not to cry. Relax. Happy cry, not sad cry. Everyone has been so wonderful! The hugs! Elizabeth, the co-publisher of DSP, hugged so hard and tight! I felt like our hearts touched. And Lynn! OH!! And Julianne! So kind and darling and sweet and beautiful!

We went to a Walgreen’s to get pop and booze and stuff and the walk back just about killed me. Took me hours to feel better. Really. But on the walk back, way at the end of a street, I saw the silhouettes of both the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. Took my breath away again.

We had the most amazing “Meet and Greet” last night where I met almost everyone who is supposed to be here. We talked, we laughed, we bonded, we got bombed. Free booze!

Today was workshops all day and I am tired, but I don’t dare take a nap! What if I oversleep! We are going in for a dinner at a club called “Lips” where drag queens serve you and perform. About eight of us.

OH! And I found out today I sold my newest story, It Had to Be You! I guess they really liked it and that makes me so happy! I was warned that the edits might be tough with all the historical stuff, but that’s fine.

I have also promised Elizabeth my first novel by July 1st! SO exciting! She wants the novel and is counting on it. She does consider this a promise. I have to do this. It’s my reputation.

There is still quite a few days left. Tomorrow is the huge Rainbow Book Fair. If I can, I am hearing there a shift early since it is in The Village. OMG! The Village! Can you imagine??

Then the RBF and back here. The next day I meet Matt! OMG!

Well, I will post again if I can!

LOVE you all,

New York City Here I Come!

New York City Here I Come!

Well, I can hardly believe it, but in just a few days I am going to be in New York City, The Big Apple!

I have dreamed about NYC for most of my life. Several years ago I went to visit a friend of mine that I hadn’t seen in a lifetime and reconnected with here on LJ. The flight was delayed and then diverted and I would up being able to see the Statue of Liberty way way in the distance and I was stunned. There she is, I thought. So damned close!
I doubt I will have time to see Lady Liberty this time, but I will see the City by hook or crook!

And it is all happening because of my writing! I am going to go to a two day workshop through Dreamspinner Press, the company that has bought ten of my stories, including the most recent, Meant to Fly, from the anthology Men of Steel, and synchronistically, half that story takes place in New York City. Perfect!

I leave early in the morning on Thursday to arrive around noon. There will be a two-day workshop starting on Friday morning, and it will be in conjunction with the Rainbow Book Fair, which we will be attending as well! How exciting!

I will be meeting so many people! The publishers of Dreamspinner Press, editors, fellow writers — inlcuding Andrew Grey and Zahra Owens — and the artist Paul Richmond! I am so excited about meeting the staff ~ Lynn and Elizabeth, and Anne and Anne, Ariel and the AMAZING artist Catt! And oh oh oh Julianne! She has been SO intramental in all that has happened for me. I can’t wait to meet her!!

*heart pounding*

Then after a breakfast with my fellow writers on Sunday morning, I head into Manhattan to meet my long long long-time LJ friend brak666, who was like the fourth person I friended on LJ nearly ten years ago! Our plans are to catch a show (a Broadway show!) and who knows what else? My hopes are for a drinkie at The Stonewall Inn, birthplace of gay rights!!

Then the next day, if all goes well on Sunday (and why shouldn’t it?), I am going to head back into town on my own to do something. Anything. See the Empire State Building, Ground Zero, Times Square, something. I thought about a museum, but that is next time. I’d be inside looking at things and not seeing the Big Apple herself.

I can hardly believe this is happening! For a few short days, I am going to be a part of it, New York, New York!

*Happiest sigh in the world…*

And I’ll be filling you all in as much as I can, time permits, and free Wi-Fi availability as well!

Love and Namasté,
B.G. Thomas

I Just Submitted a New Story!

Well I did it. I just finished and submitted my newest story, It Had to Be You. Whoa. I have never worked so hard on a story before. It nearly drove me crazy! I am so proud of it, but boyohboy, the research! It took me over a month to write a work count that I’ve usually done in less than a week, sometimes a few days.

Did I say research? That doesn’t begin to cover it. This was a story that I didn’t seem to be able to write a quarter page without having to hit the Internet, the local library, museum or local expert once again. The result though is that I was totally immersed in the subject, dreamed about it, and I think it comes shining through the story.

Here is the Call for Submissions I answered: Time Is Eternity
2012 Daily Dose – A Story a Day in the Month of June
Edited by Lynn West

We’re looking for romances sparked by an aspect of time travel. Stories may be set in or move between historical, contemporary, or futuristic settings. All stories selected for the Daily Dose will be sold as part of the daily delivery package and individually through the Dreamspinner Press website and third party retail outlets, including Amazon and All Romance Ebooks. Authors will receive a flat payment based on word count for inclusion in the set and 40% royalties on stories sold individually.

Editor’s Note: Because of the packaged nature of the set, all stories need to stand alone. No sequels to or spin-offs of previously published works, please. Historical, contemporary, and futuristic settings only. No Bittersweet Dreams.

Submission Deadline: March 1, 2012

*Dreamspinner authors qualify for an extension to March 15!

I don’t want to tell you too much about the story for a week or so, but I will say I set it in the 1920s…and I love it, love it, love it!

Once more special thanks are due to clmiles and essayel who’s without prodding, poking, encouraging, researching (when I had had all I could stands and I could stands no more) and of course editing this story would not have happened.

I will let you know what happens! Hopefully I will know within the week and before I head to the Dreamspinner Writer’s Workshop in…NEW YORK! I am so excited. This time next week and will be pacing and unable to sleep because it will be the day before my trip and I have never been to New York. And I will be meeting all the people I have worked with at DSP for the last two years! I am so excited!

OH! And one more thing. It was the Daily Dose at Dreamspinner that prompted my very first submission two years ago. And my first sale. So I am keeping my fingers crossed for what could be a wonderful anniversary present. Keep your fingers crossed with me!

Until next time!

Super News! Another Sale and This One Means A LOT To Me!

I am so excited. I just sold my 14th story in the less than two years since I started submitting my writing.

And this one really means a lot to me. Many many many moons ago, my first boycrush, where I started figuring out I was gay, hooked me on Marvel Comics. I was in Jr High School. As the years passed, my superhero obsession grew, as well as my feelings for that boy.

He was an amazing artist but couldn’t write to save his life. I loved to tell stories but was only a step or two above stick figures. So we created our own comic books and superheroes.

When I was finally able to tell him how I felt, it went the same way as it so often does in reality to gay men. I was rejected. Big time. HUGE HURT. Lots of crying.

But that is a part of life. Now many years later I am on year eleven with my man, something I would never have thought possible that night crying in my room. I have never been able to figure out what happened to my boyhood crush, but I think I have many years to come with my husband.

And what’s more, I owe that boy a world of superheroes. While I finally stopped collecting about ten years ago due to so many things, I still adore comic books. And when a call for submissions went out from Dreamspinner Press for a new anthology called Men of Steel asking for stories about gay superheroes, I had to jump on board.

The main character is not one that me and that boyhood friend made up, but some of the back-up characters are. My tale is about Paragon, the ultimate man, who is invulnerable, can fly, throw tanks as if they were pillows, and of course, gay. And did I say “invulnerable?” Well that isn’t exactly true. Because his heart is vulnerable big time.

This story was a joy to write and it was with great trepidation that I awaited to see if it would sell. I understand the editor got quite a few submissions.

Today. I am home sick with a head cold and sleeping and resting and coughing and blowing my nose and just not feeling all that hot. Then I get the email…

Dear BG,

Congratulations – Dreamspinner Press would like to include your story, “Meant to Fly”, in the “Men of Steel” anthology.

Thanks again for your submission, and I hope you’re having a fantastic new year!

PS – *huge hugs* 🙂

Needless to say, I am insanely thrilled.

Such good, good news.

AND New Lease is about to be released in Two Tickets to Paradise as well. Both anthologies will be in paperback!!

*does a dance*

This means I get to hold it in my hands! Point! Say, “This is me!”

Feeling pretty good for feeling so bad today!

Thanks again to DSP!

Namasté to you all,

PS: I don’t want to forget to thank clmiles, essayel and wrjones for the FAST edits they had to do. I couldn’t have done it without them. Thanks guys!

I’m in Paradise!

Once more I am doing the Snoopy Dance and this time I’m doing it in Paradise!

Dreamspinner Press’ Two Tickets to Paradise that is. I sold my newest story, appropriately titled, New Lease. I am quite proud of this little story. It is the shortest piece I’ve ever written and finding the line between what to keep in and what to HACK out was nerve-wracking!

To my happiness I got two wonderful emails. The first from an editor who said, to my complete shock… I loved your story, just the prefect blend of emotional without being melodramatic, and sweet but not sappy… Wonderful. You amaze me. 🙂

I mean… WOW!

Then this email from the editor of the anthology…

Hi B.G. Thomas,

I’m happy to say that I’d like to include your story, “New Lease,” in the Two Tickets to Paradise anthology, which is scheduled for release on February 20, 2012… …Thanks again for your submission. I’m looking forward to working with you on Two Tickets to Paradise.

Anne Regan
Dreamspinner Press

I am a happy boy today.

I will let you know when it is available, believe me. Anne said there were a lot of submissions so you know there will be a lot of good stories to read. Dreamspinner Press always presents amazing anthologies and Anne is an amazing editor as well. Wonderful lady too!

Happy Holidays to all of you, no matter your beliefs, because a blessing is a blessing, right? And who can have too many

Thank You All for Your Love and Support,

Hello One and All and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Hello One and All and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

To all my readers, I want to wish you a Merry Kwanukkah Solstamas (did I get them all?).

Exciting news! Finally, my newest story, Christmas Cole, has been released.

I am very excited about the story, I think it is one of my best yet and a testament of writing and selling for about a year and a half now. WOW! Who’d thunk it?

Here is a little information about my newest story (from the wondrous Dreamspinner Press):

Javier Torres was a sweet, plump, but very unpopular child. But over the years, he turned himself into a gorgeous gym god. The problem is he’s also become an egotistical snob. But one day his arrogance pisses off the wrong little old lady, and he wakes up to find that, like the Prince in Beauty and the Beast, he’s been transformed into something from his personal nightmares.

Javier has nowhere to go but back home, where to his surprise, he is greeted with open arms, not just by the family he remembers, but by his new brother-in-law, Cole. Cole turns out to be a friend from childhood who harborded a secret crush on Javier. He doesn’t see what Javier sees when looking at himself in the mirror. Cole suspects there might be a pretty heart inside that new body, but has Javier learned enough to earn Cole—instead of coal—for Christmas?

You can find Christmas Cole by clicking right here!

Christmas Cole is a pseudo sequel, well, more of a spin-off really, from last year’s story, Christmas Wish. What I am saying is that you in no way need to read Christmas Wish before reading Christmas Cole (but if you don’t have Christmas Wish and want to read it first, well, feel free to buy both! ~ LOL!).

In that storyChristmas Wish, Harry is a bear in total lust with Javier. His biggest wish is to have a gorgeous body and get to know Javier. Magickal things happen, but not the way he hoped… But this is Romance! AND Christmas. I hope you know they have happy endings! I think these two stories may just be my favorites.

You can find Christmas Wish by clicking right here!

I hope you will check one or both of them out. They are a way of my saying Happy Holidays to each and everyone of you.

With love,
B.G. Thomas

An Early Christmas/Yule Present!

My day week and month have been made!

I sold “Christmas Cole!” This is for Dreamspinner Press and their 2011 holiday stories. This will be their forth year of doing it, so it must be successful!

I’ll Be Home for Christmas
2011 Advent Calendar – A Story a Day in the Month of December
Edited by Lynn West

It’s the most fervent dream of the holidays: to have a life full of blooming romance and enduring devotion with love, joy, and even a touch of lust to warm the cold winter nights. No matter what holidays are celebrated, the idiom holds true: home is where the heart is.

I am so proud of this story. I think it may be one of the best things I’ve ever written! Found out they had over 80 submissions this year, and I was chosen!

I am thrilled! I am squealing I am so happy. Doing the *Snoopy Dance* all over the house!

In other words, I am happy!

Now if only one of my closest friends on the planet sells her I will dance all the way to where she lives, and that is pretty damned far away!

Happy Holidays to everyone!

UPDATE!! I am so happy! My wish came true! Not only did I sell “Christmas Cole,” but my dear, sweet, wonderful friend sold her story “A Perfect Christmas.” And just wait until you read it! WONDERFUL story!

Christmas Cole

So late last night I sent off my latest child, “Christmas Cole,” for Dreamspinner’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” event.

So nervous and excited. No need for nervous because it doesn’t help one iota. And yes, get excited! Energy flows where attention goes!

Got a wonderful email back from Dreamspinner Press this morning and what a wonderful way to start my weekend!

BG! 😀 I’m always glad to see one of your stories cross my desk.

And how cool is that?

I am thrilled to have the rest of the weekend off. It begins with a bear pool party (Bear Soup!) and continues on with a dinner with my brothers from MMF, whom I usually only see once a year. How cool is that? And tomorrow night I get all caught up on True Blood!

What a great weekend!

I hope yours is great as well!
